BEWARE!! Experian is preying upon your with freecreditreport.com its a scam

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Using free credit report for my daughter she wanted to know her score so I paid the $1 to find out. Experian then put me on a recurring charge for 21.95!!! I did not request it! I have to assume they did their best to hide that a subscription was involved. I usually look for this kind of deception, but did not see it. It was not until I saw my bill that I had any clue. Experian was willing to cancel the membership, but would not discuss reimbursing the membership I had no intent to sign up for or use. Just did some research to see how I missed the charge. Clearly deceptive, with an intent to hide what they are doing. Here is how they hide the charges http://www.biznet.net/articles/experian-creditcheck-membership-scam-complaint.asp. I can not believe that a company set up to protect consumers from fraud 1. does this kind of thing and 2. is allow to continue.

They charge my checking account for months

DO NOT USE THIS!!! experian will find a way to get into your account.....all lies. They are very efficient at not disclaiming your 7 days trial period....yet never received anything....not on email not on mail nothing. I think a person robbing for hunger is better than this! They reimbursed me for a few months but my account kept getting overdrawn. they prey on broke people which is the whole word right now, that's how the rich stay rich finding the loops on the system. Frankly when you have to find oil to stay warm, who cares about credit?

Free Credit Report.Com is not FREE

Freecredit report . com is an oxymoron. ALthough I am the *** one, they have been billing me monthly for a service that I did not sign up for. I accessed their website after getting an email and seeing the adds on TV. They started billing me without notification and continued even after my credit card expiration and security code changed. Also a good to know that credit card companies fully admit that this continuation of charges can slip through even when your card expiration and code change. Which is new to me, but very good to know. So beware of FREECREDITREPORT.COM, it is not free and misleading.

Yes, it's Annualcreditreport.com that is free, and I have no doubt many consumers are fooled by this, however, you DID sign up for the service and monthly billing, which is clearly explained on the website. Sorry, but it's your fault. I certainly agree that it's ridiculous that credit card companies let charges go thru when the info has changed.

FreeCreditReport.com

I joined for $1.00 to see my credit report. After viewing the site I thought I would see how much a "3-Bureau Credit Report" was. I clicked on the link and it provided such a credit report right away. I checked my transactions and it was $31.95. The site never told me how much a "3-Bureau Credit Report" was. The link should have a price associated with it, but they just charge what they feel without posting the price anywhere. FreeCreditReport.com, a Rip-Off. Once you pay the dollar they have your credit card number and they sure run with it.

FREE CREDIT SCORE.COM

I was charged 39.99 for my free credit score. I found the paragraph that said i would be charged $39.99 after the fact. There was a paragraph that said you would be charge 12.95 monthly, but could cancel within 10 days. That is what i thought. After speaking to them several times, the only way i could see where to get the free credit was to sign up again, and get charged again. I would not mind paying for my credit score, if i knew that was what i was doing Pissed for thinking anything is free.

Bait and switch - $1.00 turned out to be $58.00

Company advertised get your credit report for $1.00 -- completed form. Noticed on bank statement $39.95 charged in addition to $1.00. Called and cancelled membership and told them the reason for canceling was the additional charge. Was told it was an error, they would correct. Three days later, I see that charge and an additional charge. Spoke offshore and got nowhere. Eventually a supervisor was able to waive A PORTION of the charges. When I called I was told it was their error, now I'm told it was because I received more than one report. This is bait and switch. Avoid these people. AVOID.

I believe that in order to get your free credit score, you have to sign up for a trial of their program. Then, if you don't like the thing, BEFORE the trial period ends, you have to cancel.

My son did this, got his credit score and cancelled the next day. No problems. By the way, you can get your credit score and much more if you go to: Creditkarma.com

Just input your info, etc. and you will get info about your credit worthiness, your credit score, etc.

They will ask you if you want to apply for a credit card since your credit is so bad, or whatever, but just say no to all the offers based on your credit. You will get a free score and other good info, tho. I have done it there myself and so has my sister.

No problems. I saw this site recommended by Clark Howard, the consumer guy on the telly.

Free creditreport.com scammers

be aware that when you inquire about this freecreditreport.com . they will tell you that you get 7 day free trial. in the registration process, they will make you push a button that say view credit score and when you do that they automatically charge your card for a fee . when you call them up and ask them what it was they will tell you ah its because you viewed your 3 credit report thus we need to charge you and we can not refund the money back to you. they will even tell you they have a very strict rule with regards to refund. Freecredit report.com started adding fees

i checked my credit report on a RELIABLE site: Experion. Right after that there kept being a $16.50 fee on my credit card by freecreditreport.com When I called to complain they claimed I had signed up for a trial membership! I teach a financial literacy class and tell my students NOT to use freecreditreport.com. In all my fin. lit. literature, this is mentioned. The reliable ones: Experion, TransUnion, need to know that this other company is somehow attaching to their site. Freecreditreport.com said they have to charge me one more time for June, then claim they will discontinue the service.

Freecreditreport.com is a joke

Freecreditreport.com gave me some bad scores. I investigated and called all three bureaus, it turns out freecreditreport gave me what seem to be made up scores their site gave me 633exp 562trans 567equ I then went to freescore.com and they gave me 700trans 693exp 672equ. I quickly learned if you want the correct score you need to directly get in contact with each seperate company TransUnion, Experian, and Equifax and make sure all your info is correct and have them direct you to your current score. All these free.coms are scams dont fall for them I learned my lesson.

Freecreditreport.com

My wife and I recently used freecreditreport.com the check our credit. However, when we tried canceling our account, we were unable to get a hold of them. We missed the trial period of 7 days and were charged 19.95 for my account, 15.95 for her account, and an additional 25.95 to "view all three credit reporting companies." I called customer service and they told me these were all valid charges. I would never use this company again, it is a scam. They will keep you on hold or do whatever is necessary to keep you over your 7 days.

I've seen on TV about people being confused that this was a free service, and even asked the company why they use "free" in their name when the service is not free.

They also said that annualcreditreport.com is free. By law they have to supply you with your credit report once per year.

You can only get one report per year per credit reporting agency. You can choose to get all three at once, or one at a time spread thoughout the year.

FreeCreditReport.com is ***!

I applied for a credit card today and they refused to process it (780+ pt score - LOW debt ratio) - which has never happened. When I called the Credit Card Company they said that Equifax said I didn't exist - no such person or SS #! and that was why they wouldn't process the application. Spent over an hour at FreeCreditReport.com trying to figure out what the *** was going on. All they EVER did was direct me to different parts of the site and at each juncture they wanted $$. The site is a pain to use and you don't get anything for free (wasn't there some old addage about that?). What little information you can get is so minimal as to be useless. Don't pay them a dime for the free part (which is to be refunded) because you probably don't have enough time or patience left in your life to get your $ back! annualcreditreport.com is the government mandated site - it is FREE and VERY useful! Freecreditreport closed my account and won't refund money

Today as I checked my e banking I saw that freecreditreport.com icreased my monthly recurring charge to $14.95 - way too much for this type of service. So I inquired about the increase ... their response "The reason for a price change is primarily due to an increased cost of business. Through the years FreeCreditReport.com has remained very stable in the price of its memberships, and we believe we have provided an excellent value while holding the line on increased costs. Unfortunately, economic factors affect all of us eventually, and, reluctantly, we recently found it necessary to increase our membership fees in order to continue to provide the same high quality products our customers expect and deserve. Again, we would have sent prior notification announcing this increase. While our Terms and Conditions do state that we reserve the right to change the membership fee for any renewal term, effective upon the renewal of your membership, we did so only after serious consideration and reflection. The Terms and Conditions also state we can charge the renewal membership fees automatically to your credit card (or other billing source authorized by you) at the then current rate during the duration of your membership." My response ... "Thanks for the explanation $15 still too much - canceling account seems to be my best option" Then they canceled my account and wouldn't issue a reversal Yea Yea Yea it continues Just a word to the wise careful when retaining freecreditreport.com
